Middle East conflict live updates: Hamas says it is studying cease-fire proposal after negotiators leave Cairo


Hamas is studying mediators’ latest cease-fire proposal, according to a statement released early Tuesday local time, after negotiators left Cairo and a senior official said talks were “on hold.” Hamas criticized the proposal for not meeting Palestinian demands, but nonetheless said it would provide a response once it completes its review. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu repeated his intention to invade the southern Gaza city of Rafah and said a date had been set, but he did not specify when.
