A video of an elderly woman hanging in the air after her coat got stuck on a shop’s shutter has taken TikTok by storm garnering 1.9 million views, the BBC reported.
Anne Hughes is a 72-year-old cleaner at a convenience store in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales was standing against a shop’s shutters when the shutters began to lift.
However, Hughes ended up getting hoisted in the air with the shutters because her coat got stuck on them. Fortunately, the owner of the shop quickly stopped after noticing her and helped the poor woman.
“He couldn’t hear me shouting when I realised that I had been caught,” she said.
“The shutter was completely open then I screamed his name, and thank goodness he came out and lowered the shutter a little bit and managed to get me in his arms.
“And I just can remember saying to him ‘just grab my head’ – I was worried I was going to fall, I was pointing towards the floor.”
The entire incident was caught on CCTV outside the shop and was posted on TikTok on the shop’s account where it went viral.
Although she was startled, Hughes remained uninjured and seems to have admitted to the incident being “hysterical”.
“I’ll never hear the end of it,” she said. “My boss has said he’s never liked his staff hanging around.”
Hughes revealed that she had officially retired seven years ago, but she had been working at the store since then.
She joked: “Last night we were singing Fame to all my messenger group and they thought it was hysterical. I’ll have to handle the fame, always have my make-up on. I’ll never go against those shutters again. Never. I’ve learned my lesson.”
