Mumbaikars, you might get to experience a white Christmas this year, but the malls across the city have taken it upon themselves to give you a festival you won’t forget. They are more than making up for it with towering trees, glittering lights, and over-the-top festive installations.
During December, these spaces turn into full-blown holiday destinations, complete with photo ops, themed workshops, meet and greets with Santa, and buzzing crowds soaking in the cheer. This story rounds up the best spots to visit for festive decorations in Mumbai, so you can plan your weekends around maximal sparkle and minimum effort.
Sky City Mall, Borivali
This new mall in Borivali has been transformed into a vibrant holiday destination as visitors will be welcomed by the Glimmering Gateway, a striking red-and-gold entrance featuring a majestic reindeer installation and a beautifully adorned Christmas tree, perfect for capturing festive memories.
The mood board for the mall’s decor is “Santa Comes to Town”. The mall is adorned with twinkling lights, festive installations, and charming props that narrate a whimsical story of celebration, giving, and wonder.
Workshops: From December 13 to 21, there are all-day creative workshops. Some of the highlights are the Santa Meet & Greet on December 23, a choir performance on December 24, and a Santa Parade on December 25, between 4 pm and 7 pm.

Set in the middle of the expansive open courtyard, it is beautifully illuminated and adorned with elegant festive ornaments It is surrounded by larger-than-life illuminated reindeer statues. Step inside the mall for a sparkling showcase with huge trees hanging from the ceiling, along with wreaths, all lit up in fairy lights.
Workshops: The Christmas Market will run from 12th to 28th December, featuring 13 brands across two dedicated zones within the mall. One can visit the Fenty Beauty pop-up to play, swatch, and explore the most-loved products. Lovers of Harry Potter can stop at Hamley’s pop-up to pick up some exciting merch in the colours of their 4 iconic houses.

Immerse yourself in the warmth and sparkle of the holiday season, as the theme of this Kurla-based mall is ‘All Things Christmas’. The magnificent 34-foot installation at the centre of the mall reimagines the classic Advent calendar as a towering Christmas tree. It has been designed by Beteleaf Studios, and the installation glows in gingerbread-inspired hues with gold detailing, lush green wreaths, and celestial motifs. Wrapped with 24 intricate doors and windows, the structure captures the nostalgia of counting down to Christmas.
Workshops: From December 10 to January 10, one can attend the Hamleys Christmas Carnival, which has a fair-style setup with fun games such as Ring Toss, Can Smash, and Hoop Shot, festive décor, and plush rewards. Each weekend, from 5:30 pm onwards, enjoy the live musical evenings, while Workshops with Santa, which are on till December 28, will have interactive festive activities.
