Did Colin Munro made himself unavailable for Pakistan series?

Colin Munro, despite not representing New Zealand since 2020, remains in consideration for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup squad, according to selection manager Sam Wells.

Munro, 37, has been active in various T20 leagues worldwide, prompting the Kiwi selectors to keep him in mind for the mega event, taking place in USA and West Indies in June.

New Zealand Cricket unveiled a 15-player lineup for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Pakistan, noting the absence of key players engaged in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, with Munro opting out of Pakistan tour despite not participating in the IPL.

“We got in touch with Colin. He’s obviously been in fine form for the last few years in various competitions around the world and, in particular, has an excellent record in the Caribbean Premier League,” Wells said as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo. “He made himself unavailable for this tour but he’s potentially still an option.”

Wells highlighted Munro’s impressive record in the CPL, where he ranks as the seventh-highest run-scorer in history, with 2,353 runs in 78 innings at an average of 35.65 and a strike rate of 128.
