Chinese New Year 2026, also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is ushering in the Year of the Fire Horse. The Year of the Fire Horse is a rare zodiac that returns only once every sixty years and is known for its energy and intensity. This vibrant 15-16 day celebration, from New Year’s Eve (February 16) to Lantern Festival (March 3), marks winter’s end across China. Families reunite for feasts, red decorations, lion dances, and fireworks symbolising prosperity and warding off evil.

Food is at the centre of these celebrations, and people all over eat specific items that is supposed to symbolise good health, wealth and luck. Depending on what you want this year to bring you, eg, money, health, love and more, people will also add different food items to their dinner tables.
